Robert Whyte Memorial Postgraduate Fellowship
On the Donor
In 1980, Dr Robert Whyte and Mrs Pauline Whyte generously pledged to establish, by bequest, the “Robert Whyte Postgraduate Studentships” at the University to support research in the fields of applied ecology in monsoonal and equatorial Asia. Annual funding for the Studentships would be provided by a trust set up by Dr Whyte.
Purpose and Scope
The Fellowship shall be awarded to full-time PhD student(s) with a research interest related to applied ecology in monsoonal and equatorial Asia including but not limited to studies in botany, zoology, biochemistry, physiology, and climatology.
The Fellowship shall be awarded to national or permanent resident of Hong Kong, Brunei, Burma, Indonesia, Laos, Kampuchea, Malaysia, the People Republic of China, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Priority shall be given to candidate who has obtained his/her first degree at The University of Hong Kong.
The Fellowship shall be awarded primarily on the basis of academic merit and research calibre.
