Choi Kim Kwong Service Learning Fund

On the Donor

In late 2015, Ms Athena Choi and Mr Choi Kim-Lui made a gift to the University for the establishment of "Choi Kim Kwong Service Learning Fund" in loving memory of Mr Choi Kim-Kwong. Mr Choi was the father of Ms Athena Choi and elder brother of Mr Choi Kim-Lui. He was a self-made entrepreneur who built a successful logistics business during his lifetime. Deprived of educational opportunity, Mr Choi had a strong faith in education and nurturing of future generations. As a tribute, it is thus hoped that this Fund can enable medical students with financial difficulties to benefit from more outside-classroom learning opportunities. Service learning activities are encouraged, so as to inculcate volunteering service spirit among young people.

Purpose and Scope

The Fund shall support local undergraduate students from the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine who are recipients of the HKU's First-in-the-Family Education Fund from 2016-17 onwards, with preference given to those who indicate interest in voluntary service or service learning projects in their learning plan.
