The Hew Foundation is a privately held foundation established for the disbursement of awards and bursaries for education related endeavours.
In 2015, The Hew Foundation agreed to donate a sum to the Faculty of Law for the establishment of a scholarship fund for an annual award to up to two registered law students at The University of Hong Kong.
Purpose and Scope
A maximum of two scholarships, shall be awarded each year to undergraduate law students for participating in educational activities which are out of the box experience and with a linkage to law, including but not limited to exchange programmes, internships, research field work and service learning, which is held outside of Hong Kong and in any jurisdiction, including Mainland China, though Asian experience would be preferable. The Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need of the candidates as well as the quality of the proposal of the educational activity.
For undergraduate students, the Scholarship cannot be held concurrently with other enrichment scholarships administered by the University for the same activity. The Scholarship may be held concurrently with non-merit-based financial aids.
The awardee(s) shall be required to submit a short report to the Foundation following the completion of the intended activities for which the scholarship was awarded for.
