JMSC Journalist Scholarship
On the Donor
Commencing in the academic year 2008-09, scholarships shall be awarded to Mainland Chinese journalists or students to fully or partially support their studies in the Master of Journalism (MJ) programme offered by the Journalism and Media Studies Centre (JMSC) of The University of Hong Kong through the JMSC Journalist Grant Scheme (China). The Scheme shall be funded by the China Media Project and income of the MJ Programme with an initial fund.
Purpose and Scope
The Scholarship shall be awarded to Mainland Chinese journalists or students who:
- are Mainland China residents;
- have maintained consistently good performance in the news industry and/or in academic results; and
- have enthusiasm towards journalism and aspire to pursue a career in journalism.
The maximum value of the Scholarship awarded to each successful candidate shall be full, half or a quarter of the total MJ tuition fee of the awarding year.
The Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic or professional merit; financial need will be considered when candidates are of equal merit.
