Chiap Hua Cheng's Foundation Scholarships

On the Donor

Founded by the late Dr Cheng Yick Chi, the Chiap Hua Cheng’s Foundation (捷和鄭氏基金信託人法團) has provided generous support to various educational and charitable activities in Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland. Starting from 1978, the Chiap Hua Cheng's Foundation donated annually a number of scholarships to undergraduate students at HKU. In 1994, the Foundation agreed to continue sponsorship of 10 scholarships.

Purpose and Scope

There will be ten awards to the following students each year:

  • one award to an undergraduate following the final year of the MBBS degree curriculum;
  • three awards to undergraduates following the BEng curriculum in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, one each to the undergraduates in the second, third and fourth years;
  • three awards to undergraduates following the BEng curriculum in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, one each to the students in the second, third and fourth years;
  • two awards to undergraduates following the BEng curriculum in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, one each to the students in third and fourth years; and
  • one award to an undergraduate following the final year of the BA(ArchStud) degree curriculum in the Department of Architecture.
