Paul and Margaret Todd Scholarship for Medical and Nursing Students

On the Donor

In 2011, Professor Sir David Todd and a friend made a donation to the Medical Faculty to establish a scholarship in memory of Professor Todd’s late parents, Dr Paul Jerome Todd and Mrs Margaret Todd. (Please click here for the brief biography of Dr and Mrs Todd.)

Each year, one scholarship of the value of $12,000 shall be awarded to a medical or nursing undergraduate student of the Medical Faculty to support his/her undertaking of service to the poor and sick in an Asian country, or to recognize the commitment and achievement of a medical or nursing student in an endeavour of the same nature.  The period of service rendered by the student should not be less than 4 weeks. The scholarship shall be available with effect from the academic year 2011-12.


Professor Sir David Todd passed away peacefully at Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong on August 16, 2017.

Purpose and Scope

The award shall be made primarily on the basis of the quality of the proposal submitted, or the impact of work achieved.  Academic merit and financial need of an applicant may be taken into account.
